Job number two today was an unusual one, and unfortunately interesting for all the wrong reasons.
We were called to Camelford to look at a Mercedes GLE 350 that was suffering from persistent AdBlue issues. As usual, we carried out our diagnostic work, removed the AdBlue faults, and prepared the ECU fix. All went smoothly until we pressed the start button — and nothing happened.
After two hours of diagnosis, testing with various tools, and even putting the original map back on, the cause became clear. Once this particular Mercedes GLE 350 records a “no start” AdBlue error, it cannot be cleared with standard tools — it requires a dealer reset to enable the engine to start again.
This was the first case of its kind we’ve come across, and it serves as a valuable reminder: don’t ignore AdBlue warnings. This vehicle had been alerting the driver for more than 800 miles before finally locking itself into a no-start condition.
For now, the car will need a trip to Mercedes for the reset. Once that’s done, we’ll return to apply the original Kernowsport AdBlue solution to prevent further issues.
