This last-minute call-out took us to Carharrack near Lanner to diagnose a 2010 Honda Accord 2.0 Diesel that wasn’t behaving as it should. The owner reported that the vehicle had previously been remapped and was now suffering clutch slip in the higher gears—a classic symptom that can point to either poor calibration or an underlying mechanical issue. ECU Bench Read for Accurate Diagnosis Normally, if a customer wants a remap adjustment or software update, we would work via the OBD port. However, to properly assess what had been done in the past, this Accord required a full ECU bench read. Today’s first job saw us working on this excellent Audi A5 2.0 TDI, originally from Mousehole, which was booked in at our partner garage Smiley Pistons for a DPF and EGR delete, along with a Stage 1 performance remap. Smiley Pistons certainly attract Audi owners, and over the past few months we’ve completed multiple Audi A5 remaps through their workshop—always a pleasure to work on such well-engineered cars. Low-Mileage Audi A5 in Excellent Condition This particular A5 was a low-mileage example, finished in classic black and in superb condition throughout. Vehicles like this are ideal candidates for software optimisation, especially when emissions-related issues start to appear. DPF faults are common on the Audi 2.0 TDI, particularly on vehicles that see short journeys or mixed driving. Rather than repeatedly repairing components, many owners choose a DPF and EGR software solution, paired with a performance upgrade to enhance drivability. Performance Gains & Safe ECU Programming As expected, the Audi responded very well to tuning, with the 2.0 TDI engine typically achieving around 200 BHP, depending on variant and factory output.
