Today, we paid a visit to our friends at Harts Haulage in Pool to help one of their drivers who was having DPF and EGR problems on his trusty Isuzu D-Max. We’ve been seeing quite a few Isuzus in the workshop lately, so we know our way around them. While we were there, we also took the opportunity to reset the service lights on Boss man Neil’s VW Amarok — which had the full Kernowsport performance treatment a few months ago. One of our jobs today took us to St Dennis, just outside St Austell, to help local customer Liam with his rough-running Vauxhall Zafira. He had booked in for an EGR delete, DPF delete, and a custom performance remap — and as always, Kernowsport was happy to work around his schedule and attend in the evening after he finished work. This particular Zafira posed an extra challenge: unlike many vehicles that allow remapping via the OBD diagnostic port, this one required the ECU to be removed and connected directly via cable. While it may look like open-heart surgery, this method is often safer. It allows us to take a full backup of the ECU and gives the flexibility to return the car to its original factory settings if ever needed. Once connected and mapped, the transformation was huge. The Zafira now produces a healthy 200BHP, offering far better throttle response, smoother power delivery, and a noticeably more engaging drive. This Mercedes E250 came to us with multiple dashboard warning lights, including check engine, service required, and EGR system faults. The vehicle was in a poor state, but we were more than happy to help — even on a Sunday morning, travelling directly to the customer in Falmouth. As the ECU had already been remapped elsewhere, we started by taking a full backup of the existing file. We then carefully removed the EGR and DPF warning codes, resetting all fault lights and restoring the vehicle to full working order. Now, the dashboard is completely warning-free, and the customer is safely back on the road.
